LIONS CLUB OF
SEVENOAKS

In March we organise an Old Time Musical performed by professional players which is attended by about 300 senior citizens. In the past this has been held in the hall of Wildernesse School but this year it was staged in the magnificent new Pajoma Hall at Sevenoaks School.

In May we send two families on holiday. A pair of handicapped senior citizens go to the Norfolk Broads and a young family are sent to Tenerife.

HOLIDAYS

At the beginning of June we send 20 children and their parents or carers to Chessington World of Adventures.

Between May and October we provide six outings for groups of senior citizens in co-operation with Brighter Futures, Age Concern and Rockdale. Some of these are lunches at pubs and others are visits to local sites of interest.

SENIOR CITIZENS’ OUTINGS

On the second Saturday in September we organise a health day in co-operation with nurses from local medical centres, the Primary Care Trust, the District Council and the Diabetes UK Group. We set up a test centre in the centre of town. The objective is to entice those who do not regularly visit their GPs to have their blood pressure and blood sugar measured and to seek advice on healthy living Our picture shows the nurses preparing for the day.

HEALTH DAY

At Christmas we deliver parcels containing seasonal fare to 100 local families. This adds a spice of Christmas cheer to those who may not be able to purchase all the goods for themselves.
