COMMUNITY PROJECTS - HANDICAPPED PEOPLE

RAISED GARDEN FOR WHEEL CHAIR USER

We built this raised garden and pergola for a lady wheel-chair user. It enables her to enjoy gardening whilst sitting in her wheel chair. She is now in the process of planting the beds. After constructing the wooden shell we had to move over 10 tons of earth to fill the raised area.

NEW WHEELCHAIR

Agreed to purchase new wheelchair for young patient with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. The lady who needs this chair is in hospital but the wheelchair will be available when she needs it on her return home. It will be specially adapted to reduce the pressure on the areas where she gets sores.

NEW LEISURE AREA FOR RESIDENTS OF CARE HOUSE

The Care Fund aims to provide people with learning difficulties the opportunity to live fulfilling lives, to achieve their individual goals and to take an active part in the local community. Recently it has built a new facility in Edenbridge within the District of Sevenoaks which contains workshops, a horticulture centre, a bistro and a craft shop. It has also moved its residents to group homes in nearby towns one of which is in Sevenoaks. The residents expressed a wish for a secure, outdoor leisure area where they could meet and participate in social events. The Lions Club of Sevenoaks has constructed a large decking area where they can enjoy their gatherings in safety.

HELPED PHAB TO CONTINUE ITS OPERATIONS

Phab runs weekly social and events for people who are handicapped or who have learning difficulties. It provides a wide range of activities including art and cookery classes. It also provides opportunities for children from local schools who are working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award to to participate in community activities. Phab provides a very worthwhile  service to handicapped people and the Lions club as agreed to fund the purchase of the materials needed for their activities.
